Today, on September 9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received a briefing from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, regarding the situation on the front lines. The discussion specifically focused on the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions, according to the President.

According to Zelenskyy, he received a detailed report from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi. The briefing focused on the Donetsk directions.

"I thank all our units on the front lines who are ensuring the full execution of tasks and are really resilient in repelling Russian attacks while regaining our positions. This is important. It is equally important to destroy as many of the occupier's forces as possible. The Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions are where the Russian army must lose as much combat capability as possible," Zelenskyy stated.

Syrskyi also reported on the defense of the Kharkiv region and the operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Russia's Kursk region.

"I am proud of all our soldiers, who through their actions, are teaching Russia to clearly recognize where its land is and where its neighbors' land is," Zelenskyy emphasized.

Situation in the Pokrovsk direction

The Pokrovsk direction has remained the most challenging section of the front for several months. The Russian forces are positioned just 11 km from Pokrovsk, leading to a forced evacuation order. Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that the Russian army is actively using artillery and aviation, with over 50 daily combat clashes, with up to 300 soldiers lost. Currently, the Russian advance on Pokrovsk has stalled.

According to Syrskyi, Ukraine is doing everything possible to hold Pokrovsk. Specifically, the Kursk operation has deprived Russia of the ability to maneuver its forces effectively.
