Zelenskyy names Putin's 'two real allies' and urges the world to act

Russian President Vladimir Putin relies on only two allies in the war against Ukraine: terror and winter, says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome.
"Putin has only two real allies — terror and winter. We must respond to both," Zelenskyy emphasized.
At the Ukraine Recovery Conference, the president stressed the importance of investing in the energy sector, which Russia tries to target every winter.
"More than 500 companies are represented at the conference. Around 200 agreements are ready to be signed with a total value of over 10 billion euros. All of this must be fully implemented. And, please, let's focus on energy," he said.
Ukraine's winter preparations
It is worth noting that Ukraine ended last winter with historically low gas reserves. Therefore, to prepare for the next winter, Naftogaz (Ukraine's largest national oil and gas company) must import significant volumes of gas.
Currently, all necessary infrastructure is in place. The only issue is funding — RBC-Ukraine analyzes where Naftogaz plans to get the funds to purchase gas.
