Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in New York with Paraguayan President Santiago Peña. The leaders discussed security challenges and the outcomes of the first Peace Summit, according to the president's Telegram account and the official website of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

During the meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the situation on the battlefield and the results of the first Peace Summit, which took place in June 2024. He noted that 11 Latin American countries signed the joint communiqué, and Ukraine is keen for Paraguay to join the document.

"You couldn’t attend our first, inaugural Summit, but the Joint Communiqué is open for signing. You know that 11 Latin American countries joined the inaugural Summit, and of course, we very much hope that Paraguay will also join the Communiqué," the Ukrainian president stated.

Zelenskyy also expressed gratitude to Paraguay for its support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. In his Telegram post, he emphasized the importance of support from Latin American countries.

"Ukraine wants to end this war and restore a just peace as soon as possible, and support from Latin American countries is important to us," he wrote.

Additionally, the leaders discussed regional and global security challenges, prospects for trade and economic cooperation, and the exchange of experience in mining and agriculture. They also tasked their teams with exploring the most promising areas for collaboration.

Zelenskyy held a meeting with US congressmen

In New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with a bipartisan delegation from the US Congress. During the meeting, they discussed the situation on the front lines as well as the Victory Plan, which will be presented to President Joe Biden and the presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump this week.

Zelenskyy emphasized that decisive actions taken now could accelerate a just resolution to Russian aggression against Ukraine next year and stated that their Victory Plan would help effectively compel Russia to seek peace.
