Zelenskyy makes statement before meeting with Trump
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is looking forward to meeting with US presidential candidate Donald Trump. The head of state wants to understand Trump’s stance on ending the war, citing a statement made by Zelenskyy during a press conference with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
"Of course, I will communicate with him if we have a meeting. I think we will. As for Donald Trump, of course, I want to understand how he sees this," Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy will travel to the US next week, where he will participate in the United Nations General Assembly. Additionally, the Ukrainian president plans to present his victory strategy for Ukraine to US President Joe Biden.
Furthermore, it is expected that Zelenskyy will meet with US presidential candidates, including Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris. They will also be presented with the victory plan.
Trump’s stance on war
Donald Trump has repeatedly called for reducing aid to Ukraine. He has also suggested providing military assistance in the form of loans rather than "gifts."
Trump claims that he could quickly bring an end to the war in Ukraine and has stated that he would achieve this even before potentially returning to the White House. The Republican has also mentioned that he is preparing his own plan for Ukraine.
In recent debates, Trump avoided directly answering questions about Ukraine's victory but did say that he wants to see the war come to an end.
