Zelenskyy: Kursk operation is a strong trump card, especially with Global South countries
The Kursk operation is a strong trump card for Ukraine, especially regarding the Global South countries, states President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview during a national telethon live broadcast.
According to Zelenskyy, the advancement of Russian forces on the front "gives an opportunity to speak" to countries that are not allies of Ukraine. At the same time, Ukraine's task is to break their arguments about a frozen conflict.
"Kursk is a very strong trump card in all negotiations, especially with Global South countries. I never thought it would have such an impact on them. But it has had a huge impact," the president clarified.
He noted that for the Global South countries, Russia was considered "invincible," but now Ukrainian defenders have been controlling part of Russian territory for over four months. Meanwhile, the Russian forces are increasing their contingent but are unable to do anything.
Kursk operation
Last summer, Ukrainian defenders managed to break through the border and enter the territory of the Kursk region. Since then, they have continued to maintain control over enemy territories.
To push Ukrainian soldiers out, the Russian forces even involved North Korean soldiers in the battles, who are suffering heavy losses.
Recently, it became known that Ukrainian Special Operations Forces managed to take control of a village in Kursk region.
