Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in the French capital, Paris, where he will hold a series of meetings, including with the US delegation and French President Emmanuel Macron, presidential spokesman Serhii Nykyforov told journalists.
First, there will be a bilateral meeting with Macron, and then they will be joined by US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
A meeting of the Coalition of the Willing is scheduled for the second half of the day. The negotiations will be held behind closed doors – the organizers determined this format.
A joint press conference is also expected between Zelenskyy and the leaders of the E3 format: Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
In the evening, there will also be a separate meeting between the Ukrainian negotiating team, led by the president, and the American delegation.
Summit in Paris
Earlier, it was reported that on January 6, Ukraine's allies would hold a meeting in Paris to agree on their contribution to future security guarantees for Kyiv in the event of a ceasefire with Russia. The negotiations are taking place within the framework of forming a common position of Ukraine, Europe, and the US, which may later be presented to the Russian side.
Among the key topics of the meeting is the possible deployment of foreign troops on Ukrainian territory after the ceasefire is reached. The Coalition of the Willing already includes states that allow their presence in Ukraine, and representatives of the general staffs and the defense sector also traveled to Paris earlier.
Today, French Chief of the Defense Staff General Fabien Mandon announced that the chiefs of staff of the armed forces of the Coalition of the Willing countries had already held a meeting in Paris. They discussed security guarantees for Ukraine and mechanisms for their practical implementation.
The leaders plan to finalize security documents with a focus on security guarantees and Ukraine's recovery, after which a series of meetings will be held in the US.
During his visit, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will take part in a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing and hold talks with Emmanuel Macron.
