Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit London on Monday, December 8. He is scheduled to hold a series of meetings before traveling to Brussels, according to a statement from presidential spokesperson Serhiy Nykyforov.
In London, Zelenskyy will meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. A joint video call with EU leaders, other European countries, and the NATO Secretary General is also planned. Media statements are expected.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, will also arrive in London.
From London, the President will travel to Brussels, where he will hold a face-to-face meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and participate in trilateral talks with European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Peace plan on Ukraine
On December 2, American peace negotiators Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited Moscow to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Before their trip, they had consultations with the Ukrainian side.
According to Russian sources, the specific wording of the American proposals was not discussed; the parties spoke about the content of documents and territorial issues. Russia also claims that, in addition to the main 27-point peace plan, Washington sent Moscow four additional documents on possible conflict resolution.
No compromise has been reached yet: some points of the US plan satisfy Moscow, while others are criticized by the Russian side.
On December 5, Ukraine and the US held their sixth meeting in two weeks to review the outcomes of Witkoff and Kushner’s visit to Russia.
The Ukrainian team, led by NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Andriy Hnatov, worked in the US with representatives of the Trump administration. The priority was to obtain full information on the US-Russia dialogue in Moscow and all current draft proposals.
Umerov will present the received materials to Zelenskyy so the President can review them with his team in detail. According to Ukrainian delegates, the work was intensive and constructive, with all efforts focused on achieving a dignified end to the war.
