Attacks on energy infrastructure
Over the past week, Russia has targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Chernihiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia regions, and others came under attack. The most difficult situation was in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions.
In the Chernihiv region, strict electricity outage schedules were introduced, and the city of Chernihiv even experienced a blackout.
During Russia’s strike on Slavutych, the Chornobyl nuclear power plant lost power. Notably, the New Safe Confinement (NSC), a key facility isolating the destroyed fourth unit of the Chornobyl power plant, was affected.
President Zelenskyy confirmed that the Russian strike on the energy facility in Slavutych was deliberate. As a result of this act of terrorism, the Chornobyl plant experienced a blackout for over three hours.
Over the past two days, Russia continued targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Today, the Donetsk region came under attack.
