Zelenskyy highlights link between aid to Ukraine and Russian success in talks with US senators
The results of the Russian army on the battlefield in Ukraine depend on the quantity and type of weapons that the Ukrainian military possesses, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy states in his address.
According to Zelenskyy, during his conversation with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, he discussed the situation on the battlefield. The president has stated that the weaponry possessed by Ukrainian forces influences the outcome for the Russians on the battlefield.
"Sufficiency of artillery, the sufficiency of long-range capabilities are key things for us, for our Defense Forces. And, of course, we are working very actively to deprive Russian aircraft of the ability to dominate the skies near the front this year, as well as on joint defense production projects. We discussed the relevant priorities with the American delegation," says Zelenskyy.
Delay in US aid
On February 13, the US Senate approved a $95 billion aid bill for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Ukraine is allocated over $60 billion under this bill.
For the bill to become law, it still needs to be approved by the US House of Representatives and signed by President Joe Biden.
House Speaker Mike Johnson opposed this initiative. In turn, President Joe Biden urged the House of Representatives to urgently approve the bill.
However, the US House of Representatives went on recess until February 28, thereby postponing the consideration of aid to Ukraine.
