Zelenskyy hands over list of Ukrainian prisoners to Erdogan
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during his visit to Istanbul, handed over to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan a list of Ukrainian prisoners held by Russia. Among them are also the repressed Crimean Tatars, according to a statement by Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"Today, I handed over a list of Ukrainian citizens, including Crimean Tatars, who have been repressed by Russia and are being held in prisons and camps under extremely harsh conditions," Zelenskyy said.
The President emphasized that "we must release everyone, both military and civilians, and those who have fallen into captivity while defending their people." As well as those who "suffer repression simply because of who they are," such as Nariman Dzhelal, Lenie Umieva, Server Mustafayev, and others.
Zelenskyy's visit to Türkiye
Today, on March 8, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Türkiye for a working visit.
The head of state was accompanied by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov.
The President held a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan. One of the topics was the liberation of Ukrainian prisoners.
