President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has begun a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan. One of the topics to be discussed is the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war, reports the head of the Ukrainian state on X.

"I have started a meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. I am grateful to Türkiye for its reliable support for Ukraine," Zelenskyy says.

In the context of the beginning of the negotiations, the president has noted that Ukraine, Türkiye, the entire region, and global food security require "unconditional security of navigation in the Black Sea."

"We can accomplish this by working together," he adds.

Zelenskyy also emphasizes that Ukraine is interested in strengthening bilateral cooperation and production with Turkish defense companies.

At the same time, according to Zelenskyy, our country needs Türkiye's assistance in the release of prisoners of war and all Ukrainians, including Crimean Tatars, who are being held captive in Russia.

Zelenskyy's visit to Türkiye

Today, March 8, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Türkiye on a working visit.

The head of state was accompanied by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov.

Turkish media reported that Zelenskyy would meet with Erdogan, with the main topic being Russia's war against Ukraine.
