Zelenskyy: First steps toward peace could come by end of September

According to the head of state, there will most likely be no truly substantive negotiations during the Russian State Duma elections.
"But at the end of September, we will have the opportunity to meet with the American team in New York. And throughout this period, every day my national security advisors are in touch with the American team, discussing what results can be achieved and how to prepare for a trilateral meeting," he added.
Zelenskyy also noted that partners around the world are raising the issue of agricultural exports, which were disrupted by Russian attacks in the Black Sea.
"We believe in peace, and we will move in this direction. There is only one way to stop this war; there is no other way. Therefore, I think we will be able to reach the first results by the end of September," the president emphasized.
He added that the US needs to take strong steps ahead of the winter. This is necessary not only for Ukraine but also for Europe and the whole world.
Russian State Duma elections
Elections to the Russian State Duma will take place on September 20.
US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner said after their visit to Moscow that Russian officials would be ready to resume peace talks after the elections.
At the same time, Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov said that a new trilateral meeting between Ukraine, Russia and the US could take place in Abu Dhabi.
