Russia ready to resume talks with Ukraine after State Duma elections, Le Figaro reports

American negotiators told their European partners that Russia is ready to resume talks with Ukraine after the State Duma elections in September, the Élysée Palace stated, according to Le Figaro.
During meetings in Kyiv on Sunday, September 6, US negotiators informed representatives of European countries about "Russia’s renewed readiness for negotiations."
According to the French side, this could involve the resumption of the negotiation process after elections to the lower house of the Russian parliament.
"The Americans told us that Russia is once again ready to negotiate after the elections to the Duma and that, in this context, we should prepare for a new stage of negotiations," the French presidential administration said during a telephone briefing with journalists.
The State Duma elections are scheduled to take place on September 18-20. Thus, according to the information France received from the US side, a new stage of negotiations could be linked to the period following the vote.
US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on September 6.
Representatives of the UK, France and Germany also took part in the talks.
Following the negotiations, Ukraine, the US and European countries agreed to continue dialogue aimed at achieving a just peace, while the format of the next round of consultations is still being coordinated.
Zelenskyy also held a separate one-on-one meeting with the US envoys.
