Establishing a clear deadline for a ceasefire with Russia is very important for Ukraine, according to the response of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to a question from a correspondent.

According to him, setting a timeline for a ceasefire would allow for pressure on the Russian Federation.

"If you have a ceasefire with no clear end date, it becomes a frozen conflict, but if there are specific deadlines, it doesn't mean everything must be accomplished within the first term. There could be an extension, but the important thing is that there is a deadline for all parties to meet," said Zelenskyy.

In his opinion, a plan can be drafted outlining what needs to be done within the ceasefire period.

"I believe these are the right steps. They encourage actions to be taken before the war ends," he said.

Negotiation process for ending the war

Last month, the United States held several meetings with delegations from Ukraine and Russia. As a result of these meetings, the United States acted as a mediator in ceasefire talks and proposed a 30-day halt in hostilities.

Washington and Kyiv issued joint statements regarding their negotiations. For more details on this, read the material by RBC-Ukraine.

Russia also presented its statement, but its version included a number of conditions for a ceasefire with Ukraine at sea.

Soon after, the Kremlin rejected the US peace initiatives, claiming they allegedly did not address Russia's "problems."
