Zelenskyy enacts decision on Ukraine's Maritime Security Strategy
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree enacting the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on the Maritime Security Strategy, according to the head of the Ukrainian state.
"And today, I signed a decree that enacts the NSDC decision on the new Maritime Security Strategy of Ukraine. This document takes into account the security changes and innovations we have ensured, particularly in the Black Sea, in the development of our forces," the President said.
According to him, Ukraine wants to implement the Strategy jointly with its partners. The President will discuss its details with them in the near future.
Maritime Security Strategy
Ukraine has been developing the Maritime Security Strategy for a long time.
As former NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov stated last year, the goal of the Strategy is to make Ukraine a maritime nation.
Within its framework, Ukraine aims to enhance its capabilities to deter aggression at sea. There are also plans to build a balanced Navy.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Naval Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk, noted that the document addresses Ukraine's interests not only in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea but also in the Mediterranean Sea.
Moreover, British intelligence previously emphasized that Ukraine accelerated the destruction of Russian Black Sea Fleet ships over the past year.
