President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed the head of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Zakarpattia region. This position was held by Yevhen Borzilov. The relevant presidential decree appeared on the Presidential Office website.

Decree No. 548/2023 was published on the website of the Presidential Office on Tuesday, August 29.

"To dismiss Borzilov Yevhen Viktorovych from the post of the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Zakarpattia region," the statement reads.

The document does not specify the reasons for the dismissal. It is also unknown who will head the SSU office in the Zakarpattia region.

Who is Borzilov?

Yevhen Borzilov became the head of the SSU in the Zakarpattia region in 2019. Previously, he was the head of the SSU office in Poltava region.

It is known from open sources that in 2014, Yevhen Borzilov served as Deputy Head of the Department of Counterintelligence Protection of the State's Interests in the Field of Information Security of the SSU.

Purges in the SSU

As a reminder, in March 2023, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy replaced several heads of the SSU in the regions. In particular, the purges took place in Zaporizhzhia and Sumy regions.

In addition, the head of state dismissed Oleksandr Yakushev from the post of Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine.
