Zelenskyy discusses upcoming meeting with Macron in Ukraine
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with French leader Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders discussed, among other things, the upcoming meeting in Ukraine.
"Had a long and, as always, substantive phone conversation with the President of France. We discussed the current situation on the battlefield and the results of the International Conference in Support of Ukraine, which was recently held in Paris," Zelenskyy said in a statement on his Telegram channel.
During the conversation, Zelenskyy thanked Macron for "a strong defense package of February 16," as well as for his personal leadership in launching a long-range weapons coalition, new initiatives, and all statements in support of Ukraine.
"In addition, we exchanged views on the expected results of our upcoming meeting in Ukraine in the near future," the Ukrainian president's Telegram channel states.
Macron's plans to come to Ukraine
In January, Macron announced plans to visit Ukraine in February. The French president's trip was scheduled for February 13-14, but it was postponed. The French media, citing the Elysee Palace, clarified that Macron's visit was postponed for security reasons.
However, in mid-February, during Zelenskyy's visit to Paris, Macron reiterated his intention to come to Ukraine.
"I will come by mid-March. You can expect me in the coming weeks," the French president said at the time.
According to Zelenskyy, during Macron's visit to Ukraine, new details about France's military support will be announced.
