Zelenskyy discusses North Korea's involvement and Russia's strategies for war in Ukraine
Russia plans to effectively involve North Korea in the war in Ukraine this winter. Several other countries are investing in prolonging the war, states President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his evening address.
According to Zelenskyy, he discussed Russian plans for the war in Ukraine this winter with the Foreign Intelligence Service and the Defense Intelligence.
"Actual involving North Korea in the war. Also, Russia's relations with some other countries that, unfortunately, are investing in prolonging the war," Zelenskyy said.
The president emphasized that the foreign policy direction remains important. In particular, Ukraine's relations with partners and possible steps that can help defend and achieve results.
"I thank the intelligence and all the involved specialists for the full picture. In response, I gave specific tasks to the Defense Forces, the Security Forces, the government, and our diplomats. Whoever helps Russia, we will react as harshly as necessary to protect Ukraine. There will also be our corresponding work with partners to ensure that Russia's intentions do not succeed," the president emphasized.
North Korean troops may be sent to Ukraine
In early summer, Putin and Kim Jong Un signed a strategic partnership agreement. Putin attempted to convince Kim to open diplomatic missions in the occupied cities of Donetsk and Luhansk. The Pentagon warned that North Korean troops could be used as "cannon fodder" in Ukraine.
According to RBC-Ukraine, recently over 20 soldiers were eliminated near Donetsk, including military personnel from North Korea.
Media also reported that several thousand soldiers from North Korea are currently undergoing training in Russia. By the end of the year, they may be deployed to the front lines in Ukraine.
