Zelenskyy confirms Tomahawk request, even though it was private
Ukraine's request for Tomahawk missiles was one of the secret components of the victory plan. The leak of this information indicates that there is nothing confidential between partners, states President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during an interview with representatives of leading media outlets from Northern European countries.
"When a lot of countries began to support the victory plan, you see what's going on now in media — they said that Ukraine wants or wanted a lot of missiles, like Tomahawks, etc.," he stated.
According to the president, the issue regarding Tomahawk missiles was confidential information between Ukraine and the United States.
"How to understand these messages? So it means, there aren't any confidential things between partners," Zelenskyy added.
Victory plan and request for Tomahawk missiles
On October 16, Zelenskyy addressed the Verkhovna Rada, where he presented a plan for achieving victory in the war with Russia. The document includes five main points and contains three confidential appendices, the contents of which have not been publicly disclosed.
At the same time, journalists recently learned about one detail from the secret part of the plan: Ukraine intends to obtain Tomahawk missiles.
Tomahawk is a series of American subsonic cruise missiles manufactured by Raytheon. This weapon, capable of operating at both strategic and tactical levels, has a long range and can fly at extremely low altitudes, effectively avoiding terrain features.
