Defense in the Dobropillia direction and in other parts of the front in the Donetsk region will be additionally strengthened, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Telegram.

As the president reported, today he held a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. The situation on the front, including the Pokrovsk direction, was discussed.

"We are countering the attempts of Russian forces to consolidate their positions and increasing the pressure of our units on the occupiers. We are seeing successes. The units of the 79th and 82nd Air Assault Brigades are operating very effectively in the Dobropillia direction. Today, a decision has been made to strengthen this and other directions in the Donetsk region additionally," Zelenskyy said.

He added that special attention is being paid to positions in the Zaporizhzhia region.

"I thank all our soldiers for their resilience. The Russian army continues to suffer significant losses while trying to secure more advantageous political positions for the Russian leadership at the meeting in Alaska. We understand this plan and are keeping our partners informed about the real situation," the president emphasized.

Situation in the Dobropillia and Pokrovsk directions

Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russian forces are preparing offensive actions in three directions – Zaporizhzhia, Pokrovsk, and Novopavlivka. The Russian army is transferring forces to these areas from other directions.

A few days ago, information appeared online claiming that Russian troops had broken through Ukrainian defenses in the Dobropillia area and advanced 12 kilometers into Ukrainian territory.

A representative of the Dnipro operational-strategic group of forces, Viktor Trehubov, emphasized that only small groups of a few enemy soldiers had managed to enter this territory.

At the same time, a source from military circles told RBC-Ukraine that this was not a breakthrough, but rather a gradual infiltration that took place over nearly a week.

Another interlocutor noted that the situation near Dobropillia is difficult but not critical.

Yesterday, August 14, the General Staff reported that the situation in the Pokrovsk direction is stabilizing, with the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroying enemy forces.
