Zelenskyy awards Ukrainian forces for striking 41 Russian jets in Spiderweb operation Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine (Vitalii Nosach, RBC-Ukraine)

During the Spiderweb operation, Ukrainian defenders managed to strike 41 Russian aircraft. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who spoke at a briefing, half of them can never be restored by the enemy.

The President emphasized that Ukraine is doing everything possible to stop Russia — its aviation, bombings, and military potential.

According to him, today he signed a classified decree awarding the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) fighters who carried out the Spiderweb operation, during which 41 aircraft were struck.

"Half of them cannot be restored, and some will take years to repair — if they can be repaired at all. Truly a legitimate military target," Zelenskyy stated.

Operation Spiderweb

On June 1, SBU fighters carried out an operation to destroy Russian strategic bombers used by the enemy to launch strikes on Ukrainian territory.

Airfields in various parts of Russia were attacked by drones. The UAVs were launched directly from Russian territory — hidden inside mobile wooden cabins transported by trucks.

The SBU reported that during the operation, they managed to strike one-third of Russia's strategic aviation fleet.
