Zelenskyy asks Ukraine's army chief to consider strengthening Eastern positions
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has instructed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi to consider strengthening the positions of the Ukrainian Defence Forces in the east.
According to Syrskyi, Ukrainian soldiers continue to launch defensive operations in the eastern and southern zones. In particular, the main efforts are focused on the Toretsk and Pokrovsk directions to prevent Russian troops from advancing and inflicting maximum losses.
"Please see if there is anything else missing, we can provide it... I understand that it is not easy, but maybe we can somehow strengthen our troops in these areas. Pay attention to this," Zelenskyy says in response.
Situation at front
For a long time, the Pokrovsk direction has remained the most difficult on the frontline. A significant part of all the fighting takes place there every day.
Only over the last day, 13 August, 134 combat engagements were registered in the frontline, 54 of which took place in the Pokrovsk sector. Russia also carried out 19 attacks in the Toretsk sector.
Meanwhile, Russia began to deploy troops to the Kursk sector which had to reinforce the Pokrovsk sector.
