President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Greece for an official visit. His plane has already landed at Athens International Airport.
This was reported by ERT NEWS.
According to media reports, around 12:30 p.m. local time, a plane carrying Zelenskyy landed at Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport. Athens is the first stop on his new European tour. The Ukrainian leader was greeted at the airport by Greece’s Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, with whom Zelenskyy had a brief conversation.
The key topics of the visit include the creation of a vertical LNG transport corridor and preparations for a new energy agreement between Kyiv and Athens. The document is expected to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security.
While in Athens, Zelenskyy will hold a number of meetings with the country’s leadership. First, at 1:00 p.m., he will meet with President of the Republic Konstantinos Tasoulas at the Presidential Palace. At 1:45 p.m., Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will receive the Ukrainian leader at the Maximos Mansion. After their talks, statements to the press and an extended meeting of the delegations are planned.
This is Zelenskyy’s second visit to Athens — his first took place in August 2023. The next stops on his European trip will be Paris and Madrid.
As a reminder, earlier this morning Zelenskyy announced an agreement with Greece on gas supplies for Ukraine.
"We already have agreements on financing gas imports, and we will cover nearly 2 billion euros needed for gas imports to compensate for the losses in Ukrainian production caused by Russian strikes," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
