President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved the key principles of agreements with the United States regarding weapons supplies, according to the president’s evening address.

"I also approved today the key principles of our agreements with America regarding weapons. These are large-scale agreements — I discussed them with President Trump, and I very much hope we will be able to implement all of this," Zelenskyy said.

The president emphasized that "this will definitely strengthen both our countries, and therefore our allies as well."

Weapons agreements between Ukraine and the US

On July 18, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced that Ukraine and the US are planning to sign a "drone deal" regarding the production and sale of unmanned aerial vehicles.

This issue was discussed during a recent phone call between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump.

Specifically, the US leader expressed interest in Ukrainian drones and said his country was open to purchasing them. In response, Zelenskyy asked the US to help strengthen Ukraine’s "air shield."

According to Verkhovna Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk, Ukraine is preparing an agreement under which it will sell domestically developed drones to the US in exchange for the purchase of advanced American weapons.

Additionally, the US and NATO have signed an agreement on the supply of US weapons to Ukraine. European countries will cover the cost of the US-made arms.

In particular, Ukraine is set to receive a new batch of Patriot air defense systems.
