President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk as the Ambassador of Ukraine to Brazil, according to the presidential decree.

"The appointment of Andriy Yaroslavovych Melnyk as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the Federative Republic of Brazil," the decree states.

The Brazilian government recently approved Melnyk's appointment as Ukraine's Ambassador.

What we know about Andriy Melnyk

From 2014 to 2022, Melnyk served as the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany. He is known for his outspoken statements during his tenure.

Melnyk referred to the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz as a "disgraceful liver sausage" for indirectly refusing to visit Kyiv.

The Ambassador also accused Germany of lacking hospitality, leading to Ukrainian refugees leaving the country.

Amid the scandals, Zelenskyy dismissed Melnyk from the position of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany.

In November 2022, Melnyk became Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
