The United States government wants Russia's war against Ukraine to end. However, the main question is on what terms peace will be achieved, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in response to journalists' questions.

The Ukrainian leader was asked whether he trusts the American side during peace negotiations, given that Europe does not really.

Zelenskyy noted that European officials have different opinions regarding trust in the United States. In particular, there are pro-Russian Europeans who block aid to Ukraine, but there are also pro-American ones who trust Washington.

"America is a strong partner. President Trump definitely wants to end the war. And that's a fact. Yes, he has his own vision. We live here, we see the details and nuances, we perceive this much more deeply because this is our homeland," the President said.

He added that the American negotiating team is working very hard, especially President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, who works alongside special envoy Steve Witkoff.

"I clearly see that they want the war to end. This is not a game on the part of the US.… Everyone wants the war to end, but for us, it is also important how and on what basis. There must be no risk of the war repeating, because we do not trust Russia. These details are not minor for us, so we want answers to each of them," Zelenskyy stressed.

Rumors about Europe's warning to Zelenskyy

Earlier, Spiegel published details of a secret meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders.

The outlet claimed that French President Emmanuel Macron warned his Ukrainian and European colleagues about the risk of betrayal from the United States regarding Ukrainian territory.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz allegedly said that US special envoy Steve Witkoff and President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner were playing games with Europe and Ukraine.

Macron later denied such claims, insisting there is no mistrust between Europe and the United States.
