Next week, a meeting of the chiefs of general staff will take place, with the main topic being security guarantees for Ukraine, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening address.

Meeting of national security advisors

According to Zelenskyy, on January 3, Ukraine will host a meeting of national security advisors. This will be the first such meeting held in Ukraine. Fifteen European countries have confirmed their participation. The United States will join online, along with representatives from European institutions and NATO.

Meeting of chiefs of general staff

On January 5, the meeting of the chiefs of staff will take place.

"The main focus is security guarantees for Ukraine. Politically, almost everything is ready, and it is important to work through every detail of how the guarantees will function in the air, on land, and at sea if we manage to end the war. This is the key goal for all reasonable people," the President said.

Leaders-level meeting

Zelenskyy added that on January 6, a leaders-level meeting of the Coalition of the Willing countries is expected.

"We are preparing now to ensure the meeting is productive, to increase support, and to build greater political confidence regarding the guarantees and the peace agreement," the head of state said.

Umerov’s visit to Türkiye

The President also reminded that Ukraine’s Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov is on a visit to Türkiye, where he has already held several meetings with Turkish officials.

"We are making every effort in the new year to resume prisoner exchanges; this is the key topic in our talks with Türkiye. We need this assistance to bring our Ukrainians home from Russian captivity. Last year, exchanges were active, but by the end of the year, they unfortunately slowed down. Now we need to resume them," Zelenskyy said.

Readiness of security guarantees

On December 1, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the Coalition of the Willing had completed work on security guarantees for Ukraine.

Following a recent meeting with US President Donald Trump, Zelenskyy noted that the security guarantees are now fully agreed upon.
