Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, according to Zelenskyy’s evening address.

"I also spoke today with French President Macron. We coordinated our positions ahead of the conversation between President Trump and Putin, as well as before upcoming meetings in Europe. I want to thank Emmanuel and all of France for their support," Zelenskyy said.

He also reminded that on Tuesday, March 18, it will be exactly one week since the United States proposed a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

"This proposal could have been implemented long ago. Every day in wartime means human lives. It has now been almost a week since it became absolutely clear to everyone in the world — even to those who refused to acknowledge the truth for the past three years — that it is Putin who continues and prolongs this war," Zelenskyy noted.

According to him, he also spoke today with Argentine President Javier Milei.

"I told him that we are close to taking the first steps toward ending the war. And I urged that Argentina’s voice, as always, be strong and confident in support of peace," the president said.

Ceasefire proposal

During negotiations with the US, Ukraine agreed to Washington's proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Russia. However, Russia has yet to respond to this proposal. Moreover, Putin’s foreign policy aide, Yuri Ushakov, stated that Russia is not interested in temporary truces with Ukraine.

Additionally, Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to "adjust" the proposal to suit Russia’s conditions. In particular, he insists that Ukraine should not receive military aid during the ceasefire.
