Ukraine is preparing for trilateral diplomatic negotiations in the first half of November and is considering the involvement of Türkiye and European partners, as well as holding future meetings on Turkish territory, according to a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Diplomatic formats and Türkiye’s role

The head of state noted that during the meeting, the parties discussed in detail further diplomatic steps and the involvement of international partners in the negotiation process.

Zelenskyy stated that they were preparing for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the US, and Russia in the first half of November. He added that he had discussed the prospects of such a format with Erdogan, as well as other options, including the possibility of involving Türkiye, Europe, and all partners. He also mentioned the possibility of holding the meeting in Türkiye.

The president emphasized that strong decisions are necessary to achieve peace, and Russia must receive a clear signal at all levels: there is no alternative to peace, and support for Ukraine will continue.

Security in the Black Sea and the maritime corridor

During the meeting, the leaders paid special attention to the security situation in the Black Sea region, which Russia has been systematically worsening with its aggression since 2014.

"Symbolically, our meeting is on the International Black Sea Day. And a significant part of the conversation was devoted to issues related to the Black Sea. President Erdoğan and I discussed some new ideas and proposals that can help," Zelenskyy emphasized.
