Zelenskyy agrees with Trump: War must end but Putin understands only force

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirms that the war must be ended. But to achieve this, Russia must be strongly pressured, and here Zelenskyy agrees with US President Donald Trump – this cannot be done in defense, according to Zelenskyy's evening address.
Zelenskyy noted that to end the war it is necessary to put pressure on the Russian President Vladimir Putin, since he understands nothing but pressure and force.
According to the president, Ukraine will do everything necessary for its defense. The US president is right – it is impossible to achieve the end of the war in defense.
"But at the same time we are not reducing our diplomatic efforts, in all our contacts with partners, so that negotiations do take place, and precisely such ones that can bring peace closer," he added.
Zelenskyy noted that at the diplomatic and political level, national security advisors are working on the issue of ending the war in Ukraine. On the issues of military provision of security guarantees, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the General Staff are working.
"Now every day adds contours to the future security architecture for Ukraine. Weapons, financing, cooperation with our partners, forces on land, in the air, at sea. And every day there will be new steps by partners in support of Ukraine – I will have a lot of diplomatic work," the president assured.
On August 21, US President Donald Trump criticized his predecessor Joe Biden for delaying permission for Ukraine to strike deep into Russia with American weapons. Trump also emphasized that no war can be won in defense.
Trump also stated that in about two weeks partners and allies will find out whether it will be possible to achieve peace in Ukraine. If not, then it will be necessary to "take a different tack."
