Ukraine can produce its own air defense systems to protect its territories from Russian terror. However, there is a nuance, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during his evening speech.

Zelenskyy said that he had held a meeting with the military about the Russian shelling of Ukrainian territory.

“We need to strengthen our air defense - this is an objective reality - and all the agreements that have been reached with partners but not implemented need to be maximized. Patriot, which is now just stored somewhere with our partners, must actually protect lives,” the President said.

According to him, our partners in Europe and the United States need to produce air defense systems and missiles for them much more actively.

“We in Ukraine can provide such production, but we need appropriate political decisions. Localization of production and appropriate licenses will help not only us, but also everyone, all partners who want security and not war,” the President said.

He recalled that such conversations had already been held with partners, and an understanding had even been reached that this was possible.

“Every Russian strike is a reminder to our partners: we must finally do what we agreed on. I have instructed the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to intensify contacts with our partners in this regard. A meeting is being prepared in the context of Ramstein,” he emphasized.

Air defense for Ukraine

The main problem faced by the Ukrainian military is the lack of air defense systems and ammunition. Earlier, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had asked the United States for licenses to produce Patriot air defense systems. The Americans did not refuse, but did not give anything.
