Zelenskyy accuses some EU leaders of blocking Ukraine's EU talks to appease Russia

During a press conference in the Czech Republic, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that some European leaders are blocking Ukraine's EU accession talks. They are not acting in the best interests of their own countries, but instead, are seeking to appease Russia.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is ready to open the first clusters in the negotiation process regarding EU membership this year.
"We are disappointed that certain individuals in Europe are blocking this process. Not for the interests of their own countries, but to get a better seat at the Red Square tribune (the largest square in Moscow, Russia -ed.). For all of us in Europe, it is crucial that European values truly dominate. Values, not the whims of certain politicians," Zelenskyy emphasized.
Whom Zelenskyy is referring to
Recently, the Ukrainian President stated that Hungary is blocking Ukraine's EU accession talks. Specifically, Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán even organized a public survey on the population's support for Ukraine's EU path, later boasting that Hungarians allegedly opposed it.
Zelenskyy called on Hungarian leaders not to use the Ukraine issue for domestic political gains. He also added that, in reality, 70% of Hungarians support Ukraine's EU membership.
In response, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó advised Zelenskyy to "choose his tone," while Orbán stated that it is not Kyiv or Brussels that should decide Budapest's position.
Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán will not attend the May 9 parade in Moscow, unlike his Slovak counterpart, Robert Fico. Although rumors about Fico's illness had circulated recently, he appeared publicly today and confirmed he would go to Moscow. Fico has long opposed Ukraine's EU and NATO membership, but so far, only Hungary has officially blocked EU decisions regarding Ukraine.
