Zelenskyy accuses Russia of deceiving US and the world on ceasefire readiness

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russians talk a lot about their readiness for a ceasefire, but in reality, they are deceiving the US and the world. They are intensifying their attacks and trying to prolong the war.
"The Russians talk a lot about their alleged readiness to accept American proposals, but so far, there have been no signs of the Russian army preparing for real silence," Zelenskyy said.
The President added that despite their statements, Russia resumed its usual assault activity after Easter. At the cost of significant losses, the Russians are trying to advance.
"And every day of such battles at the front proves that Russia is really trying to deceive the world, to deceive America and others, and to further prolong this war," the Ukrainian president added.
Pressure on Russia
In his opinion, pressure on Russia must be increased to make the Russians "take all the necessary steps to stop the war."
"Yesterday’s meetings in the Vatican and Rome confirmed that our partners understand what is happening. Ukraine is ready to move as quickly as possible in diplomacy," Zelenskyy emphasized.
The President reminded that Ukraine agreed to the American proposal for an unconditional ceasefire 47 days ago. Later, Ukraine offered Russia to halt attacks, at least on civilian objects. However, Russian forces responded with Shaheds, missiles, artillery, and new assaults.
"A proper response from the world is needed — a response with new sanctions and even greater pressure. Of course, America can take the most impactful steps — steps that will be felt by Russia," the President stressed.
Trump's discontent
Yesterday, US President Donald Trump, who had repeatedly claimed in recent weeks that Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted peace, made a tough statement about the Kremlin leader.
The US President wrote on social media that Putin had no reason to bomb Ukraine in recent days. This raises the suspicion that the Kremlin leader does not want to end the war and needs to be dealt with differently.
"There was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities, and towns over the last few days. It makes me think that maybe he doesn’t want to stop the war; he’s just tapping me along, and he has to be dealt with differently, through 'Banking' or 'Secondary Sanctions?' Too many people are dying!!!" Trump wrote.
