During his visit to Washington on December 12, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy conducted a meeting in the U.S. Senate. The head of state briefed American politicians on the security and economic situation, addressing their questions, according to Zelenskyy's Telegram channel.
"A friendly and frank meeting in the U.S. Senate, which is an important confirmation of support for Ukraine in the struggle for independence, freedom, and democracy," stated the head of state.
Zelenskyy mentioned that during the meeting, he informed American senators about the current security and economic situation in Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of maintaining crucial support from the United States.
"I answered questions. Thanks to the leader of the Democratic Party in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, and the leader of the Republican Party in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, for the bipartisan consolidation of support for our state and people," the statement said
Zelenskyy's Visit to the U.S.
On December 11, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the United States. He has already met with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva.
Today, on December 12, the president visited the U.S. Congress, where he held a meeting with senators. He also has a scheduled meeting with the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson.
It's worth noting that the visit is taking place against the backdrop of disagreements in Congress regarding a package that includes new funding for assistance to Ukraine amounting to over $60 billion. Republicans are urging the White House to consider their proposals for strengthening border security.
