Russian forces attacked the Zaporizhzhia region again last night. As a result of the attack, a penitentiary facility was damaged, and there are casualties, states Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

"Last night, the Russian forces attacked one of the penitentiary institutions in the region. Unfortunately, there are dead and injured," the statement reads.

Fedorov clarified that the facility’s buildings were destroyed in the attack. Additionally, nearby private houses were damaged.

A penitentiary facility is an institution for the enforcement of punishments - that is, a prison, penal colony, pre-trial detention center, or other facility where people serving sentences or under investigation are held.

Attacks on the Zaporizhzhia region

Russian forces regularly attack Zaporizhzhia city and the region, using drones, missiles, and aerial bombs.

For example, on the night of July 26, nearly a dozen drones were launched over the region, causing fires and the destruction of a house.

Specifically, several fires broke out in the Zaporizhzhia district. A non-residential building was damaged. In the Polohy district, a warehouse belonging to a farm was damaged, and a private house was destroyed there.
