On the night of September 16, Russian forces carried out at least 10 strikes on Zaporizhzhia. The attack caused widespread destruction, fires, one death, and multiple injuries.

How Russian forces attacked

At 11:09 PM Kyiv time on September 15, an air raid alert was declared in the Zaporizhzhia region. It lasted for about two hours, during which governor Ivan Fedorov warned of threats from KABs, cruise missiles, and ballistic weapons.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, high-speed targets were detected heading toward the city after a ballistic missile threat was confirmed. Reports also circulated online suggesting the city was attacked with MLRS.

Consequences of strike

Around 00:35, Fedorov reported that the Russian attack damaged cars, shattered windows and facades, and caused a fire in one district.

Later, he clarified that Russian forces continued to strike the regional center, hitting residential areas.

"Russian forces carried out at least ten strikes on Zaporizhzhia. Private homes and non-residential buildings were destroyed. Fires broke out," his statement said.

Casualties

The number of injured in Zaporizhzhia continued to rise. Initially, one casualty was reported, then five. By 02:40 AM Kyiv time, the toll had grown to nine wounded and one dead.

"One of the injured is in serious condition. A four-year-old girl is also under medical supervision, but her life is not in danger. One person has been killed," Fedorov said.
