The New Year begins according to the Chinese horoscope, and the Wooden Snake, which will become the main symbol, can significantly influence the coming months. Some people will be lucky, while others will be turned away, states astrologer Kateryna Solovyova.

"The Chinese New Year has different dates each time, as it is calculated according to the lunar calendar and falls on the second New Moon after the Winter Solstice. In 2025, the new moon will appear for the first time on January 29 at 14:36 Kyiv time (20:36 Beijing time). By the way, in China, this event is called the Spring Festival, which will be celebrated until February 12, the Full Moon," the astrologer said.

Each of these 16 days has clear instructions to follow in order to make the next 12 months favorable. All of them, Solovyova noted, are associated with ancient beliefs and rituals. However, not all of these traditions have come down to us.

"For example, since the Chinese believe that the number 8 brings good luck, most businesses start working after the holiday with the beginning of the 8th lunar day (this year it is February 5). It is a common practice to scare away evil spirits by setting off firecrackers and using red color in decorations on the streets and buildings," Solovyova explained.

"Interestingly, on January 29, it is not recommended to take a shower, sweep the floor, or throw away garbage, as this can lead to bad luck. Red envelopes with money, tea, beautiful dishes, and sweets are very popular as gifts. But giving something black or white, as well as wallets, watches, mirrors, and shoes is strictly prohibited," she emphasized.

In the East, the astrologer said, people usually celebrate the New Year wearing red clothes, symbolizing strength and prosperity. The colors of the year's animal totem are also taken into account. This time it is the Green Wooden Snake, which prefers green and yellow. At the same time, golden and brown shades should be avoided.

"But there is one thing to keep in mind. Because China uses the lunisolar system, they celebrate two New Years, according to the lunar and solar calendars. So, the year of the snake comes into its own according to the solar calendar, namely on February 3 at 22:12 Beijing time (16:12 Kyiv time)," the expert emphasized.

"The snake is the sixth sign in the Chinese animal cycle. It symbolizes wisdom, intuition, calmness, inner strength, and adaptability, and endows with an analytical mindset, the ability to solve complex situations, a penchant for self-knowledge, and philosophical reasoning. In general, during its dominance, we can expect serious challenges, changes, opportunities, shifts, and transformations in various spheres of life, which may require people to be careful and take more thoughtful actions," she added.

This year may be the most unfortunate for those born in the years:

  • Snake
  • Horse
  • Rat
  • Dragon.

And the lucky ones can be those who were born in the years:

  • Ox
  • Rabbit
  • Goat
  • Monkey.

By the way, earlier it became known how to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Also, the astrologer gave important predictions for the Year of the Snake for all zodiac signs.
