After meeting with the head of the Kremlin in St. Petersburg, US envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to return to Oslo. He is already being awaited there, as officials want to hear firsthand the details of the conversation, according to the Norwegian outlet iNyheter.

US special envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to Oslo after meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Norway is awaiting details of the conversation.

The previous day, October 20, Witkoff was in Oslo alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for talks on the war in Ukraine. The meeting took place at the government residence. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb were also present.

According to NRK, Zelenskyy asked Norway and Finland to organize the meeting. Another US special envoy, Jared Kushner, participated remotely.

The goal of the meeting was to draft a peace proposal to be presented to Russia. According to the US outlet Axios, representatives of several European countries, the EU, and NATO may have joined the discussion.

The Norwegian prime minister said that efforts were being made to end the war through diplomacy and achieve a lasting and just peace.

He stressed the importance of determining what mandate US President Donald Trump had given Witkoff and Kushner.

Stubb said after the meeting in Oslo that the parties had found ideas for a peaceful settlement.

These are to be presented to Russia in St. Petersburg.

As RBC-Ukraine reported, Witkoff arrived in St. Petersburg on Wednesday morning.

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said the Russian leader would receive him around the first half of the day.
