Witkoff and Kushner make first statements in Kyiv

US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner made their first statements in Kyiv about the talks and the path toward peace.
After meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the US representatives shared their impressions of the visit and the talks.
Witkoff thanked the president for his hospitality and said the trip to Ukraine had been wonderful. According to him, the US side held substantive discussions with Ukrainian representatives and plans to remain in Ukraine for as long as necessary.
"We had a very meaningful, substantive and important discussion. We are very encouraged. We could follow to continue these days," Witkoff said.
What Trump says about peace in Ukraine
Kushner, for his part, conveyed US President Donald Trump's regards to Zelenskyy.
He emphasized that Trump considers the current situation difficult because it is not only about ending the war but also about creating the conditions for lasting peace.
According to Kushner, the US president wants Ukraine to be able to use its potential for reconstruction and development after the war ends.
"President Trump very much wants to see this. He is not afraid of complex problems. The more difficult the task, the harder you have to work and give it everything you've got," Kushner added.
He also said Trump wants to stop the deaths and then restore investment and economic cooperation that would help Ukraine and Europe prosper.
Kushner separately thanked partners in Germany and France, as well as the World Bank, for their cooperation.
Talks to continue
"I really hope that this business trip will come out to some new ways to advance forward," the US representative said.
According to him, meetings with Ukrainian representatives are scheduled daily, so the negotiating process is expected to continue.
"So we are constantly moving forward to achieve peace," Kushner concluded.
Later, Volodymyr Zelenskyy will hold expanded talks not only with the US envoys but also with European partners to coordinate a joint diplomatic position.
