Without American support, Ukraine would suffer heavy losses. At the same time, for Kyiv, there's no other path but to end the war justly, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says in an interview with 60 Minutes.

"I think that without the US we will suffer many losses - both human and territorial. Such losses are possible. Without a doubt, without the US it will be difficult to achieve that desired goal - to end the war as soon as possible and to have a just peace. Without the US, there will be more losses - that's a fact," the Ukrainian president stated.

According to Zelenskyy, he would not want to even consider a scenario in which Ukraine would have to fight the enemy without American support. Still, one way or another, Kyiv will finish this war and will do it justly for Ukraine.

"There's no other way, and it cannot be otherwise," the Ukrainian president added.

US aid to Ukraine

During the full-scale war, the USA became one of Ukraine's key allies. Washington has provided significant military, financial, and humanitarian assistance, including air defense systems, artillery, ammunition, armored vehicles, as well as intelligence data.

After Donald Trump came to power, Washington somewhat shifted its foreign policy course and now insists on ending the war through negotiations. Over the past two months, the American side has held a number of separate negotiations with both Ukraine and Russia.

In March, the United States suspended arms deliveries and the exchange of intelligence data with Ukraine. Support was restored after hours-long negotiations between the US and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia on March 11.

Earlier, Zelenskyy had explained that it would be dangerous for Ukraine if the United States were to turn its back on it.
