Windows issue that allows your computer to be hacked over network
If you’ve been putting off your Windows update, now is the time to install it. Last week, Microsoft addressed a rather unpleasant vulnerability in Windows 11 and 10 that could put your PC at risk when connecting to a public Wi-Fi network, citing The Verge.
The vulnerability (CVE-2024-30078) could allow hackers to deploy a malicious package on devices connected to the same Wi-Fi networks in places like cafes, hotels, shopping malls, or even workplaces.
From there, hackers could remotely execute commands and gain access to the system, all without any user interaction or authentication.
Microsoft released a patch as part of its monthly security update on June 11.
The company rated the vulnerability as "important," which is the second-highest severity rating for security issues. Even if you don’t plan on taking your laptop to a cafe anytime soon, you shouldn’t delay installing this patch.
