Will Ukraine request arrest warrant for Kim Jong Un from ICC: Zelenskyy's response
Decisions on responding to North Korea will be made after the combat deployment of North Korean soldiers in Ukraine. This may involve an appeal to the International Criminal Court, states President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with the South Korean television channel KBS.
Specifically, Zelenskyy was asked whether Ukraine would file charges against North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un in the International Criminal Court, similar to what was done with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"We will make a decision after the combat deployment of the North Korean army against the citizens of Ukraine. However, if South Korea supports our relevant efforts, then I believe that together with our allies, we are prepared to take appropriate steps," Zelenskyy said.
North Korean troops in Russia
Recently, reports have emerged that North Korea (DPRK) has sent troops to Russia. According to US intelligence and Ukrainian sources, about 10,000 DPRK soldiers have undergone training on Russian territory, with some being moved closer to Ukraine, where they have been spotted in Russian uniforms and with Russian equipment.
International partners condemn this cooperation, viewing it as a dangerous precedent that could impact global security.
ICC warrants against Russia
In March of last year, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin. In addition, a warrant was issued for Maria Lvova-Belova, the Russian presidential commissioner for children's rights.
