Will Ukraine be able to hit Russia with F-16s? Danish PM's comment
The Danish government does not rule out the possibility for Ukraine to strike from F-16 fighters outside the country. However, these strikes, including on the territory of Russia, must comply with international law, according to Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
"You cannot ask this question and expect a simple answer because everything depends on the circumstances. It must be in accordance with international law. But it is possible to achieve goals outside of Ukraine - yes," she said.
Moreover, Frederiksen acknowledged that the number of aircraft provided by Copenhagen would be insufficient.
"President Zelenskyy is right. When we look at the number of fighters in Russia, it is very large. They are now being used directly in Ukraine. Therefore, the planes we can provide will not be enough... We hope that more aircraft will be transferred and that more countries will support this process, as well as pilot training," said the Prime Minister.
F-16 for Ukraine
Recently, while in Washington for the NATO summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine needs at least 128 F-16 fighters to effectively compete with Russia in the sky.
During the summit, it became known that the F-16s were already on their way to Ukraine.
Recall that Denmark intends to transfer 19 fighters to Ukraine.
