Why do bags under eyes appear
Many people mistakenly believe that bags under the eyes are mainly caused by stress and lack of sleep. However, the reasons for this condition are quite unexpected, and it's important to know how to avoid it, according to the Mirror website.
Why do bags under the eyes appear
Dr. Joseph Allen, an optometrist and leading eye health expert, believes there are misconceptions about the causes of bags under the eyes, which are often seen as a result of stress and sleep deprivation.
Skin pigmentation can influence their appearance, and an increase in pigmentation may lead to darker circles.
The expert states that sunlight can cause darkening of the skin around the eyelids, which is very sensitive. It’s important to protect the eyes from the sun using sunglasses or a hat.
Swelling around the eyelids can arise from several causes, such as allergies or high salt intake. The use of cold compresses can improve the condition of the skin.
While stress and lack of sleep are often thought to contribute to dark circles or puffiness around the eyes, research shows that these factors may not directly affect eyelid pigmentation.
Instead, other physiological changes, such as the release of cortisol and inflammation, may be contributing factors.
Do cucumbers help with bags under the eyes
Cucumbers can improve the appearance of skin around the eyes, but only temporarily. The application of cold compresses, such as cucumbers, can temporarily reduce the appearance of dark circles and bags by constricting blood vessels and decreasing swelling.
The cooling effect causes the blood vessels to narrow, which helps reduce tissue swelling.
However, this procedure should not be done for more than 15 minutes to avoid skin irritation. Maintaining good sleep, a healthy diet and hydration are recommended habits to avoid such issues under the eyes.
Do eye creams really work
For those dealing with bags under the eyes, specialized creams can be beneficial. However, it’s advisable to consult a healthcare professional first.
There are many creams available on the market, but to see real results, it’s important to use them consistently for several months.
