The Armed Forces of Ukraine now have more FPV drones than the enemy. Ukraine is actively developing technologies to catch up with and surpass Russia in the drone war, says Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, at a meeting with journalists.

Today, war is not only a clash on the battlefield but also a struggle between economies and scientific-technological progress.

According to Syrskyi, the number of FPV drones in the Armed Forces of Ukraine now exceeds the corresponding figures of the enemy, which provides an important advantage.

But Russia has achieved success in producing drones with fiber-optic control systems, which can operate at distances of up to 40 kilometers. Ukrainian developers are currently catching up to this level. There are already drones with fiber-optic cables about 20 kilometers long.

According to Syrskyi, the future of the army lies in high technologies. The role of the soldier on the battlefield will gradually decrease, while the infantryman will remain the main value, whom they aim to protect through robotic platforms and drones.

"Of course, the greatest value is our soldier, our infantryman. We will do everything to preserve our infantrymen. So that he first operates a drone, a robotic platform, and only then goes in himself," Syrskyi said.

Production of interceptor drones

On May 18, the Unmanned Systems Forces reported that for the first time in history, soldiers destroyed 100 enemy drones using interceptor drones.

Syrskyi instructed to improve air defense, including interceptor drones. This order was given against the backdrop of massive drone attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.

The Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are forming the first female crew for intercepting enemy drones.
