White House: Witkoff warned Qatar of Israel's planned strike

US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, informed Qatari authorities about an upcoming Israeli attack on behalf of Donald Trump, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated during a briefing.
She said Witkoff notified Qatar before Israel’s strike.
Levitt added that Trump is very upset about the location of today’s Israeli attack in Doha, which targeted Hamas leaders.
"Trump believes this unfortunate incident could serve as an opportunity for peace. The President also spoke to the emir and prime minister of Qatar and thanked them for their friendship to our country. He assured them that such a thing will not happen again on their soil," Leavitt emphasized.
Israel strikes Qatar
On September 9, around 4:00 p.m., Israel’s defense and intelligence forces carried out an airstrike on Qatar’s capital, Doha, targeting Hamas leadership.
The Israeli army stated that the targeted Hamas officials were directly responsible for organizing the group’s operations, including the mass killings on October 7, 2023, and coordinating the war against Israel.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) emphasized that measures were taken to reduce civilian risk, including the use of precision weapons and additional intelligence data.
Earlier reports indicated that US President Donald Trump approved Israel’s strike on Doha, and Washington was aware of the plans in advance.
