White House urges Congress to approve Ukraine aid amid Avdiivka battles
The U.S. Congress must pass a bill to provide aid to Ukraine, otherwise, the situation in Avdiivka, the Donetsk region, could repeat itself in other areas of the front, according to the White House National Security Council Coordinator, John Kirby.
"We need Congress to pass the National Security Supplemental Bill without further delay," the statement said.
According to him, what is happening in Avdiivka right now could easily be repeated elsewhere on the front line, if House Republicans do not act soon.
"So again we need Congress to act right away," Kirby added.
Fighting for Avdiivka
The Russians have been intensifying their attacks in attempts to occupy Avdiivka for several months now. They want to surround the city and then take it under their control.
In particular, in this way, the enemy wants to boost the ratings of dictator Vladimir Putin ahead of the presidential elections. Ukrainian defenders continue to hold the defense and inflict huge losses on the occupiers.
Today, February 15, it became known that the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade has been sent to defend Avdiivka.
Kirby has said that Avdiivka may fall under the control of Russian occupiers, as Ukrainian troops lack artillery shells.
More details about the situation around the city can be found in the material of RBC-Ukraine.
