Several more top officials may leave the US president’s administration following the dismissal of the attorney general. Among those under consideration is US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, whom Donald Trump tasked with negotiations with Ukraine, according to The Atlantic.
According to the outlet’s sources, “active discussions” are currently underway regarding the possible dismissal of FBI Director Kash Patel, as well as Army Secretary Dan Driscoll and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer.
At the same time, no specific timelines for the potential dismissals have been set, and the president has not yet made a final decision.
As the outlet notes, Trump had previously been reluctant to fire senior officials, viewing it as a “concession to Democrats and the media.”
According to journalists, in recent months, there had even been an informal principle within the administration not to carry out personnel changes before the midterm elections.
However, according to The Atlantic, declining support for the president after the start of the war with Iran may have altered these political calculations.
It is worth noting that in November 2025, a new player unexpectedly joined the negotiation process between Ukraine and Russia — US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll, who replaced Keith Kellogg.
At that time, Driscoll presented Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with a draft version of a new peace plan, after which he joined negotiations in Geneva, where Ukrainian and US delegations refined it.
He later presented the proposals to the Russian side in Abu Dhabi.
It should be recalled that on April 2, Trump dismissed Attorney General Pam Bondi. Todd Blanche was appointed to perform her duties.
According to media reports, the key reason for the dismissal was how Bondi handled the publication of documents related to financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Also yesterday, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth asked US Army Chief of Staff General Randy George to resign and leave his post. He has already stepped down.
RBC-Ukraine has also previously detailed who Daniel Driscoll is and his role in negotiations on Ukraine.
