Ukrainian specialists will be able to produce missiles for key air defense systems. Agreements have already been reached with several countries, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference.
Ukraine's team is working to obtain licenses to produce missiles for the Patriot air defense system. A political agreement on the issue has already been reached.
"We are working on Patriot licenses. We have reached a political agreement. We expect that by the end of 2026, our team will have the technical capability to produce these American missiles in Ukraine," Zelenskyy said.
Agreements with the EU
According to the President, Ukraine has also reached an agreement with the European Union, specifically with France and Italy, which have agreed to grant licenses for the production of SAMP/T missiles.
An agreement has been reached with France, while Italy has supported the necessary decisions.
The licenses cover SCALP missiles and Aster 30 air defense missiles used to intercept cruise missiles.
As for the next-generation SAMP/T NG anti-ballistic system, Zelenskyy said it is too early to discuss production because Ukraine has not yet received the system. However, Ukraine expects to obtain production licenses for its missiles by the end of 2026 as well.
AASM Hammer guided bombs
Zelenskyy also said Ukraine is seeking a license to produce AASM Hammer guided bombs. According to him, France has given a positive response.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that at the beginning of July, during a meeting with Zelenskyy in Türkiye, US President Donald Trump said the United States would allow Ukraine to produce Patriot missiles.
Zelenskyy also previously announced that France would deliver two SAMP/T air defense systems to Ukraine later this year and accelerate deliveries of Aster 30 missiles by October.
