When next Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting will take place: MoD announces date

A new meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group is scheduled to take place on December 3, according to Ukraine’s Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal on Telegram.
According to the head of the Ministry of Defense, he took part in a videoconference with the defense ministers of the E5 countries — Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, and France — as well as EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas.
Shmyhal informed his counterparts about Russia’s massive strike on Ukraine’s civilian and critical infrastructure during the night of November 14.
"We are counting on the delivery of additional air defense systems and interceptor missiles to save the lives of Ukrainians," he said.
The Ukrainian minister also stressed that Ukraine needs new long-range weapons from its allies, as, together with sanctions, strikes on Russia’s energy and military infrastructure could force Moscow to come to the negotiating table.
During the meeting, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said Germany is ready to increase its supply of air defense systems, ammunition, and drones to Ukraine.
The participants also discussed ways to finance Ukraine’s Defense Forces. A portion of the recent €6 billion EU tranche is expected to be directed toward this.
"We are preparing the next meeting of the Contact Group for December 3. I thank our allies for their consistent support and efforts in the name of a just peace," Shmyhal said.
Ukraine Defense Contact Group
The previous meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group took place on October 15.
Following the meeting, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that allies had pledged contributions of $422 million to the PURL initiative.
Meanwhile, Sweden pledged 8 billion dollars in security assistance for Ukraine for 2026–2027.
